A. Cartoon Attached - Clay Bennett
B. The artist, Clay Bennett, creates an image of a shirt with the words Family Values, with a lipstick stain and a tag with the Republican Political party symbol on it. This shirt depicted looks like a shirt that someone wore when they were having an affair of some sort.
C. This cartoon is a representation of hypocrisy. The artist is referring to the incidents of people claiming Family Values will be demoralized when Republican party members are demoralizing family values by cheating on their wives. This cartoon is an attempt to show the audience that these Republican party members are being hypocritical. When Bennett does this, he lowers the credibility of those members.
D. Bennett uses the shirt as a way of showing that the Republican members wear family values, in other words, Republicans always have family values, much like they always wear shirts. This represents a meaning that contradicts the statements of Republican officials, and may even open the Republican officials' eyes to the idea. Not only are the Republicans unaware of this, but the audience may be unaware of it also, and with this depiction, both Republicans and the audience will feel emotion towards the subject.
