REHUGO Analysis—Political Cartoon

A. Cartoon Attached: Artist: Monte Wolverton

B. In this cartoon Wolverton is showing the effects of the power that congress holds against citizens, in this case immigrants. It also shows the effect that the immigration bill caused separation from the immigrant family.

C. This cartoon shows the effect of what can happen to immigrants, be it a family of one or many the outcome will be the same for all since all are immigrants. The visual also shows the fear of a family being separated because of the immigration bill that would “slice” the family apart. The giant hand represents how powerful senate can be and the ax represents the aggressiveness that the senate can inflict upon. The cartoon also shows a small amount of offence to families in general, for separating families is very disintegrating.

D. The implications of this cartoon is that the senate or any of the officials that can perform this type of act are very bold and fell very little to the family that is suffering or the officials simply have no choice and act out this decision for reasonable purposes. The family that suffers from the decision is the most affected for they are the ones that are being separated not the officials who decided this act.
