REHUGO Analysis—Articles: Societal Trend

A. Articles: “Friendships with family are not always easy.” “Creating sibling bonds.”

B. Author(s) of articles: Both articles were written by K.

C. Although both articles were written by the same person the author states argument able situations within a family. In his first article he states that having relationships such as friendship in ones family can be easily corrupted and often the outcome is that a friendship cannot be easily formed. In K’s second article he presents that a type of family bond specifically a sibling bond can be a blessing to have among siblings.

D. The author uses specific details as to why if someone were to have a friendship with ones family member it can be easily corrupted, “When you have at your disposal an arsenal of knowledge about what someone does, who they are, what makes them tick, and probably the most dangerous, what their insecurities are, it is easy to cross lines and boundaries.” This one fact does describe the truth about what one can do with information such as this and how one can use it. This second piece of evidence can relate to the author’s ethos, When someone is family, you know so much about them, that hurting them is an easy task. You can pin point their weaknesses, and prey on them quickly and easily.” This can help the audience relate to various possibilities that can happen because one may know so much about one person and they may use that knowledge unwisely. In K’s second article he presents a certain ray of light about how precious sibling bond(s) are, “Often the best way to bond with someone is to share something with them.” This fact can relate to the authors paradox, for this fact can indeed be true for the fact of the matter is that if one has something in common with someone else the chances are they will coup well with one another, however this does not always apply to everyone. “The more you spend quality time together and have shared experiences, the easier it will be.” This small fact can also be true however; this may not always work for everyone who tries.

E. Rhetorical strategies: the author’s pathos and logos are well described in his first article. He uses true facts and well thought out consequences that can occur because of having a friendship with a family member. The effect is that although the facts may be true they do not apply to all who are in a friendship with their family. Perhaps those who are in a friendship with their family know how to keep that knowledge a secret or they simply know well enough to not use that information unwisely. In the author’s second article his exemplification to give advice of how to create a sibling bond is well thought out and not that difficult to do. He tells how one can develop the relationship as well as how one can improve having or creating the relationship between siblings. He also uses personification when describing the bond between siblings. He gives the relationship such value that it feels more alive than just a mere relationship.

F. Although both articles are written by the same author they express opposing views about relationships between family members. The first, expresses how having a friendship with a family member can be easily torn apart because of how much one knows about the other and how they can misuse that knowledge. The second article expresses how a bond with ones sibling can be similar to a friendship. This article expresses how wonderful a friendship with ones sibling can be.
