REHUGO – Visual Analysis

Cartoonist: Nick Anderson

  1. Facebook has become a part of life for most people. With more than five hundred million users, it has become an international hit, translating in seventy different languages. Indicating that the United States “Likes” the Egypt Democracy Movement on Facebook marks that society has become dependent on the internet to communicate.
  2. Nick Andersons realizes that Facebook has become a social efficiency. Facebook is an easy obtainable sight where Americans can access information about virtually anything. “Liking” a page or group on Facebook shows ones support and interest in such movement or organization. If someone of power, say the President, showed intrigue or countenance in an important event, more people would see it and appeal to it.
  3. Using Facebook as a method to show the United States support in Egypt’s affairs, demonstrates that technology has become a necessity to communicate and interact with one another. The outdated practice of writing a letter or even calling a friend has been replaced by texting and posting. The ability to easily access current news reestablished picking up and reading a newspaper. Faster and faster, technology is making life easier. Society has let it too, choosing a quick and efficient way, rather than a disciplined, heartfelt way.
