Universal Truth: Two Quotations Regarding Community

A. Article: “What is the Importance of a Community” author - Ajanta Bhattacharyya

Article: “Five Things Common to Communities & Families” author - Lisa Barone

B. In the article “What is the Importance of a Community” author Ajanta Bhattacharyya states that “a sense of community is important to establish peace and harmony among the society.” Bhattacharyya suggests that having a need for belonging and togetherness are part of being human, and those needs are satisfied when we are part of a community. Lisa Barone, author of “Five Things Common to Communities & Families” points out that “people join communities because they want to be a part of something and bigger than themselves.” Like Bhattacharyya, Barone also believes that we become a part of a community to fill the need for togetherness and to feel like we are a part of something outside of ourselves that involve others that share common interests and beliefs.

C. Throughout time, people have always chosen to be a part of communities than be in solitude because we are social beings that need to feel like we belong to something bigger than ourselves. To live peacefully among our society, and to satisfy the need for togetherness, we must join communities of people sharing our beliefs, religion, interests, and anything else that bind people together. Today, that concept has not changed, and there are different ways to connect with new people and join communities through social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

  1. Throughout time, people have always chosen to be a part of communities than be in solitude because we are social beings that need to feel like we belong to something bigger than ourselves. - awkward sentence, working on it so that it makes more sense.
